Lerner Education

We have been offering high-quality in-class seminars to licensed healing arts professionals since 1989. We are now in process of creating a full on-line complement of our classes. This will enable you to complete any program we offer from anywhere in the world, 24/7!

Acupuncture Orthopedics

The Acupuncture Orthopedics program began in 1989 to provide acupuncturists with a higher degree of clinical skills and education regarding primary care evaluation and decision making as it relates to neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Today, this is a 315-hour program with written and practical examination, as well as hands-on learning with other health care providers. Courses are taught on a monthly weekend seminar basis.

The program is designed to put you in the best possible position to network with other health professionals to provide the best service for your patients. Lerner Education is an official Provider for:

  • National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics
  • Successful completion of all modules and examinations will result in the award of Diplomate status with NBAO.
  • California Acupuncture Board (CAB Provider #080)
  • National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)

Fred Lerner Bio

Fred N. Lerner, D.C., Ph.D., F.A.C.O. is a chiropractic orthopedist who has been in private practice since 1980. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Dr. Lerner graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1976 from the University of Toronto. In 1979, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, now part of Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS). Along the way, he has put together and run several different multi-disciplinary medical groups.

These groups have included orthopedic and neurosurgeons, physiatrists, physical therapists, and acupuncturists, all of whom worked together in a team approach to help their patients. In 1998 he became the first chiropractor to receive staff credentials at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and remained on staff until 2014. He practices in Los Angeles at International Sports Medicine Institute, in the Middle East and in Beverly Hills. He continues to work towards developing complementary medicine within and without the hospital setting as part of a team approach towards patient care.

Dr. Lerner is also an educator, mainly for post-graduate continuing education programs to licensed health care providers. He helped found and has taught the Acupuncture Orthopedics program since 1989, a board-specialty for licensed acupuncturists, as well as teaching the Qualified Medical Evaluator program for the State of California. He is a certified trainer for JTech Medical, Inc. He is now developing on-line educational programs in these fields. Dr. Lerner has also served as a consultant to several insurance and health-related companies as well as professional sports teams.

Dr. Lerner has also dedicated a part of his life towards public service. Throughout the early and mid-1990’s, he worked with several State government groups to reform the Workers Compensation system in California. For about eight years, he served on the SCUHS Alumni Association, the last four as its President. In March of 2007, Dr. Lerner was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve on the California Board of Chiropractic Examiners. In January of 2008 he was elected as Chairman of the Board, and served in that capacity for four consecutive years.

He has been happily married since 1989 and has two daughters.
